About Me

I wear many hats. I am a social entrepreneur in the technology and energy domains. I am a career woman working in the global development space. I am a restless creative and dreamer, training as a photographer of nature. I am an aspiring pâtissier and a sinking object in water.

My Social Entrepreneurship adventures

In 2013, I established Malawi’s first technology hub and incubator for emerging entrepreneurs. mHub champions the development of innovative technology solutions and accelerates emerging innovative entrepreneurs with access to finance and investment readiness support. The hub has deployed over thirty-five innovative technology solutions across sectors such as citizen engagement, health, education and elections monitoring in six countries. Between 2018 and 2023; the hub facilitated over $1,500,000 in financing to youth and women led innovative impactful entrepreneurs creating more than 952 jobs and impacting over 6,945 people in diverse value chains including technology, food processing, waste management, fabrication, aquaculture and manufacturing.

I established coding clubs for girls and children; a robotics club and machine learning community camps that have trained over 92,000 children, girls, youth and women to develop innovative technology solutions.

I am also an entrepreneur in the energy space championing the development of low cost power through a thermal chemical process for rural micro grids.

My Career in Development

My career in the global development sector has cut across the following domains:- digital, agriculture, nutrition, digital financial services, public health, disaster management and elections monitoring. I have led development projects in over 22 countries. I currently serve as Senior Program Officer in the Global Development division at the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF). Prior to joining BMGF, I led the deployment of big data, artificial intelligence and machine learning models for development in Africa at the United Nations Foundation(UNF).

I am a mother of three or six or more. To these, I serve as a teacher, counselor, judge, chef and intercessor.

I am the enigmatic INTJ personality type, a shy geek wrapped in a cloak of introspection. I may seem reserved at first glance, but beneath my calm exterior lies a burning desire to share myself with the world. I navigate the social landscape with a playful finesse, often surprising others with my outspoken insights when the topic aligns with my passions. I relish in the art of strategic conversation, using my intellect to engage in debates that challenge the status quo. While I may not always wear my heart on my sleeve, my love runs deep and my mind is a playground of ideas. I am a dreamer. I like to dive into the depths of curiosity where introversion meets outspokenness, and geekiness reigns supreme!

In this whimsical snapshot, I fearlessly ventured into the watery depths, defying my own trepidations as I plunged a daring 12 meters beneath the shimmering sea. This is symbolic of my relentless spirit to smash ceilings.
